Hi, I’m Claudia
When my son was just about 2,5 years old, I was standing in front of my closet, getting him and myself ready for our day – and I burst into tears. The idea of going somewhere, coming up with a fun activity felt overwhelming. I was exhausted and I didn’t really like my life in that moment. Unfortunately, I couldn’t just crawl back into bed, I had to keep showing up for my child.
I didn’t understand what was happening at first. Yesterday, everything seemed to be okay, and today I felt so lost and hopeless out of nowhere. I thought for a long time I was just a bad mom – until I noticed a pattern. My moodswings only show up like this in the week before my period. That’s when I started to look up my symptoms on the internet and suddenly I had a label for what I was feeling: PreMenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, or PMDD.
After that initial diagnosis, it took about 8 months before I got to see a therapist, all the while still feeling like crap every month. You can read all about my own journey as a mom with PMDD.
In that time I came up with many tools and practices that would let me manage my moodswings as best as I can. Looking around the online support groups that I am in, I see that many moms struggle with the same feelings that I struggled with, sometimes with no help in sight.
I believe that, as a mom, you deserve to feel safe to share your ‘less than perfect’ moments and to get exactly the help you need. When you need it.

Motherhood felt very heavy to me. My whole view of motherhood has become much more positive. I can organise my life in such a way that there is room for a child, but also some room for me.
I have certainly achieved my goal of being a happy mum who enjoys time with her son. The insecurities I have as a new mum have become much less thanks to talking to Claudia. Happy, in other words! Because enjoying yourself is the most important thing there is.
